I've had this for years, dug it out today for the daily commute and it blew me away, anyone else heard this album?

Never heard of them and can't seem to track them down anywhere on the net. Anything Anti-war in my book is cool. Is it like the Fugs? |

skullchrist wrote: Not really....Merry Airbrakes as far as I know was the first album to be recorded by a Vietnam Veteran, it was mainly one guy, helped out by his brother and some other musicians. It is mainly Dobro (steel) guitar/slide guitar...a bit Delta-ish and a bit Bluegrassy and some nice, almost Brewer & Shipley type ballads....very open and honest and although his voice isn't the best you will hear, his passion and soul for his subject matter shines through. The Vietnam war really changed this dude and the album is entirely sympathetic to the Vietnamese, I guess he had the same epiphany that many US combat troops had while he was out there. If you have trouble tracking it down (it was re-released on CD at some point) then let me know and I can get a copy to you

I dig. Two of my uncles and my dad went to Nam. One of my uncles didn't make it back, the other grew his
hair and a full beard, became counter culture and instant anti-establishment, and never turned back. He has a yellow VW bus that he drives all over the
country and meets like minded individuals at VW rallies. My dad became a salesman.

If you search on Bill Homans you should find some link to the album. Also, Joe McDonald has a page dedicated to war related music:
