Just wondered what you all thought of the Boston Sound. I'm currently working on reissues of the two Beacon Street Union albums that are due for release early in 2010 and I'd be interested in your thoughts about their recordings and those of the Ultimate Spinach, Orpheus etc. Do you think the reputations of those bands are still tainted by their association with the MGM "Bosstown" hype?

This documentary was aired a while back on BBC TV (UK) and then stayed on BBC iPlayer for a silly short time. I've not got around to watching it yet (hopefully tonight...) but have managed to secure a copy in DiVx format if anyone fancies it for their archives. This can be played on a DiVx player or on a PC, or converted to DVD by someone with the right knowhow.

This slightly oddball mix of Rural Rock, ex-Garage Band and Cali Bar Band has been amongst my pile of stuff listened to on my daily commute this week. I kind of like the gravelly vocals and there are some neat moments of brilliance, intertwined with them nearly slipping thru the cracks into a Blues Rock mess. Once upon a time it was a rare as hell Private Pressing but saw the light of day via a German re-issue 10 years ago.

Not exactly top drawer Rural Rock but nice to hear once in...

I've had this for years, dug it out today for the daily commute and it blew me away, anyone else heard this album?

It was done back in '73 by a Vietnam Vet called Bill Homans aka Watermelon Slim and is full of some great Anti War stuff done on Dobro guitar.....most enjoyable

It's with a heavy heart that I have to inform you of the passing of Dickie Peterson from the incomparable and infinitely influential Blue Cheer.

I was fortunate enough see them a few years ago and let me tell it was not a geriatric reunion show but a fucking lysergic psychedelic acid rock meltdown! Please pass on your stories of this iconic band.

Who says this band isn't psychedelic???! I (re)discovered their amazing tunes and fell in love (again) with their sound. They're classified as "hip-hop trance", but I hear lots of psychedelia in their songs. Just listen to Jackie Cane, Autoharp and Frosted Flake Wood and be blown away. Great band from Belgium......any other fans here ?!
